The trail in this area is a very gentle downhill grade with good tread ranging from packed gravel to dirt and does have areas of loose surface rock. The course is a great beginner’s run for either relay or ultra runners and a good early season short distance race for ultra runners. The relay legs vary from 5 miles to 9 miles.
- Scout Mountain Ultra Trail | 100K, 60K, 35K
June 3, 2017, Pocatello, Idaho
Luke Nelson, RD
The Scout Mountain Ultra Trail will take the competitors on a very challenging tour of the Caribou-Targhee National Forest outside of Pocatello, Idaho. It should be noted that this is an mountain running event taking place in the spring-time, in Idaho. Translated this means potentially very tough course conditions, and very unpredictable weather as was proven in 2010. Approach this course and the area with respect and come prepared for just about anything. This isn’t your typical 100 km trail run.
- River of No Return Endurance Runs | 108K, 50K, 25K
June 17, 2017, Challis, Idaho
Paul Lind & Neal Russell, RDs
Designed to be tough and beautiful, the courses will tease runners with a downhill start and finish in Challis (elev 5200’) sandwiched around some big mountain climbs over 8-9000 feet. Elk, deer, eagles, bears and wolves add to the mystique of the River of No Return, as do the forgotten mines and mining communities, old Idaho traditions – all surrounded by the very supportive community of Challis.
- Beaverhead Endurance Runs | 100K, 55K
July 8, 2017, Salmon, Idaho
David & Eric Tarkalson, RDs
Run the remote and rugged Continental Divide National Scenic Trail in the Beaverhead Mountains dividing Idaho’s Lemhi River Valley and Montana’s Big Hole Valley. Both races are point to point, taking place predominantly on the Continental Divide National Scenic Trail (CDT) and the Continental Divide. The length of Continental Divide covered in this event also represents the boarder between Idaho and Montana. You will drop off the Continental Divide at mile 54 of the 100k and descend into the head waters of Bohannon Creek and onto the finish line. The 55K race covers the second half of the 100K race starting near the Lemhi Pass AS.
